Music by MKTO - How Could I Forget.

This week I am heading into the halfway mark of completing this internship!

I got to do exciting things for work this week! I did a photo shoot with cookies! One of Kōbo's past clients needed to a do a photoshoot for their new products and update their website. One of the photographers that the company normally works with was unavailable, so they asked me if I could do it. We had the lights, the products, the ingredients and the props. The smell of the cookies filled up the room and it was pretty straight forward trying to emulate the old pictures with the new cookies. It was really fun and something different from sitting at the desk staring at the computer all day. I got to eat the cookies too and they were delicious! I also learnt how to briefly use shopify whilst trying to update the images on the website and the apps within like langify trying to change some of the Chinese translation which was interesting. I ended up starting and finishing the concept designs for the hat client on Tuesday and they looked really cool. They ended up getting back to us really quickly, picked out the ones they liked and I started refinements. I also finished off small odd jobs from other clients and helped some lady do her CV.

How my brain works in Cantonese is that it's fairly similar to Mandarin, which is what I speak at home with my parents. My mandarin is trash. My family have made fun of my speaking skills many times and I know it's bad. But the way I understand Cantonese is that it sounds similar to Mandarin and that's how I translate when I speak. My switch flip is terrible between the two languages. I went back to Ma Sa Restaurant (the place with the three eggs and spam on rice) and I wanted to try this tofu dish, but they didn't have any left. I continued to asked if they had roast pork which is 'Siu Yok' in cantonese which I already know, but my brain was just not processing on that day. I ended up saying 'Sao Yok' instead because in Mandarin, it's 'Sao Ro'. My translation was wrong. The lady at the restaurant screamed at me saying MO SAO YOK (no roast pork), so I ran away.

I ended up getting a bbq roast pork on rice from dragons restaurant - they have amazing char siu fan, this time I added spring onion sauce on the side and it is a game changer. Later on in the week I went back to dragons restaurant but this time I got Roast Pork on rice, as much as I like bbq pork, it's sometimes way too sweet. I went with my co-worker and she read out the actual menu to me, so I knew what was available for next time!

I went back to Ma Sa later on in the week and I ordered something, but I had no idea what I ordered. I ended up with a Satay Beef Spaghetti Noodle with egg. It wasn't too bad haha but I wouldn't get it again.

I did the one thing I said I wasn't going to do, make instant noodles at home. I wanted to eat as many Hong Kong things, but just for that one day I couldn't be bothered going out and decided on something to eat. So I had classic Mi Goreng in my room, in bed, watching Netflix.

It's been busy over the past week but I finally had the time one evening when the night was clear and 28 degrees in heat and humidity to go shoot some hopps. Troix, Ashlee and I headed over to Victoria Park Basketball Courts. It was cool to see the diversity of people playing basketball. All playing half court 5 on 5. People were watching on the side lines. It was legit. A bit intimidated, we hesitated to join in with people casually shooting hoops. After 45mins of shooting, drenched in sweat, we decided to go home and rest for the day ahead.
